I recived (received) your kind letter this after noon and
was glad to hear from you and glad to hear that
you are all well as for my self I am not well
by a dam (damn)  site (sight) I went befour (before) the last board
this four (fore) noon and they would not discharge me
nor give me a furlow (furlough) but they will send me
to the hospital I dont no (know) what hospital they
will send me to but I think it will be over
in washington (Washington, District of Columbia) and as soon as I get their (there) I will
right (write) you a gane (a gain) if I can get to my pay master
office I can get four monts (months) pay and then I
will send you some if I had of got befour (before)
the other board I think I would of got my
papers but their (there) is no use of talking this
time I have got to go to the Hospital
and see what I can do their (there) I have give up
all hopes of ever getting befour (before) my times
is out if I should live as longe (long) as that
you must content your self as well as you
can till my turn comes I dont no (know) as that
ever will be this is all I can think of this
time so good by take good care of my boy

I shall try and get deatild (detailed) and stay their (there)
as long as I stay in the contry (country) tell Sarah (Stannard, Sarah M.)
hear (here) is that ring I dont no (know) as she will like
it but I cant help it if she dont I will
send you one the next time for my boy when
it will fit his finger you can ceep (keep) it
till he wants it this is all for this time
