- John Humphrey, Jr. was born on September 15, 1845 in Marcy, Oneida county, New York, son of John and Ann Humphrey. On July 22, 1862, at the age of 19, he volunteered for service with the U.S. Army at Utica, New York, and became a member of the 117th New York State Infantry Regiment, Company B. John Humphrey was in the Battle of Drewrys Bluff, Coal Harbor, Petersburg, Fort Gilmore, Darby Town Road, and Fort Fisher, Honorably discharged June 8th 1865. P.O. Address: Deerfield, Oneida County, New York.
