March 22nd -65 Dear Father (Welch, Luther)

I wrote a letter to you day
before yesterday and enclosed a check in
the same for the amount of ($275,00)
two hundred and seventy five dollar's
I write this so that if you do not get
the other all right, you can let me
know, it will probably go through all
right, I wanted to send three hundred
but saved some to buy a suit of
citizens cloths (clothes), they are very high here
and perhaps I will wait untill (until) I get
north before I buy any. I have just
"struck ile" as they tell about, or in
other words the paymaster has been
around, we are having a change made
in the office here the Surgeon in
charge has resigned and is going home
Eliot Burch (Burch, Eliot) has been put into the
invalid corps I don't see myself in any
invalid corps I don't not I not at all
I am well and hearty and hoping this
may find you all as well up there I will
close my regards to all, write soon and oblige
