But that he hardly ever
wore his military uniform. He usualy (usually)
wore an old hat privates
blouse and old high top
boots. Therefore a a great many
did not know him. And that
is where the report started.
I have not seen a Herald for
a week. But the report is, that
McClellan (McClellan, George Brinton (General)) was nominated
at the Chicago (Chicago, Illinois) Convention by
122 majority. Sherman (Sherman, William T. (General)) is doing
a big thing according to reports.
It is reported that he has
taken Alanta (Atlanta) (Atlanta, Georgia) . If that is so
where will the Rebs make
their next stand in that
Department. It looks to me
as though they were about played
out. Yes I suppose they have
gay times picking [hops] . I know
I used too (to) when I went [hoppicking]

I wouldnt care if I was there
to go this year. So it is
Et Crossman (Crossman, Et?) is it? I joked her
about Gustavus (Gustavus) and she denied
it. She must have felt honored
with his company to spark it
in the kitchen. And how are you
Uncle Charles Goodfellow (Goodfellow, Charles (Uncle)) . Ask
Aunt Janette (Janette (Aunt)) for me if I may
call him Uncle when they get
spliced. I'll warrant Grandma
would have no objections.
Uncle Charles (Charles (Uncle)) & Brother Et (Et (Brother)) ha-
ha- ha.- Cousin Ann (Ann (Cousin)) and Sophia (Sophia)
As Charley Mahan (Mahan, Charley) in ectacy (ecstasy) of
delight (I think I should die)
But I will joke Addie (Pearl, Adaline C.) in my
next to her. And will bring
this to a close. with much love
to all and hoping to hear from
you soon.

I remain your
affct Son Geo W Pearl (Pearl, George W.)
to all good bye
