try to write a
few lines and let
you know that i
am alive yet this
is the first opportunity
i hat (had) to answer your
letter we got our pay
the last of march
and just as i got your
letter read we had
marching order and
marched till the 7 april
and next day we had
to fight they is four
of our company wounded
the mail is now
going out
