Nov. 19th 1864. Dear Father (Welch, Luther)

I have at last
arrived at my destination
all right with the exception
of a slight cold, I have not
got fairly settled down here
yet for I have not been
here but one day. the Doctor
did not say a word because
I staid (stayed) at home so long.
there is seventy five men
in the ward that I am
in. quite a large family.
the weather is warm and
rainy, it does not seem
as though I have seen
a fair day in four month's

We are all very comfortable
here, good beds to sleep on
that is as good as straw
will make our living
is not very high but we
can keep alive on what
we get to eat though probably
we shall not fat much
I have not heard from the
Boy's in the reg't yet.
I can't think of anything
to write that will be
interesting for you to read
so I will close my love
to all write soon from
