Dear Parents (Pearl, George A.) (Pearl, George A. (Mrs., Marcia C.)) (Pearl, Marcia C. (Mrs. George A. Pearl)) ,
I recd your
kind and welcome letter of
the 13th this morning. I
was glad to learn that
all at home were in
usual health. Your
letter
found me much better
than when I last wrote.
I had very
good care after
I went to Ward. B.
Dr
Leabo (Leabo (Dr.))
of that ward is a
very good Doctor and
one of the Sisters of
Charity (Sisters of Charity)
and nurses were
very attentive. The Sisters
are all very kind, and will
do or
have got most any-
thing a patient
wants. I get along first rate
with my work in the kitchen
It is not hard work but
rather busy as I have a mess
of 16 to cook for. I make pies
apple dumplings beef pot
pies &c and the boys say I
am a first rate cook. You
know I am not much of a
case to brag but leave it
all for the boys to say.
Mother I wish you would
send me a receipt of the
plainest cake you make
where it does not require
many eggs or much milk
if any as eggs and milk
are scarce articles here
The boys throw in and buy
apples and seanoning (seasoning).
Apples are only [$600] a bbl
here, And miserable things
they are at that. Father
if you get the $60.00 that
I sent in the paper I
wish you would send me
a barrel of good fall eating
apples. If you have not
got them to spare Amos Gridley (Gridley, Amos)
usualy (usually) has some
He used to have some
called the Orange apple
that were very good. No
matter if there are three
or four different kinds
Direct them to me to
Point LookoutM.d (Maryland) (Point Lookout, Maryland) . Ward G.
And as good way as any
I think would be to send
it by Adams Express (Adams Express).
And I would like a good
substantial pair of suspenders
I return the Two Dollars as
I have money enough for the
present. About one hundred
more Reb prisioners (prisoners) came
here yesterday. From the same
Department that the last
5000 came from. So Louisa (Louisa)
is married. Well I hope she
has done well. Mother when
you see her congratulate her
for me and give her my
best respects. I have
subscribed for the Hammond
Gazette for three months
more to be sent to Father (Pearl, George A.) .
Please let me know
whether you receive them
or not. No more at
present Hoping to hear
from you soon I remain your affct Son Geo W Pearl (Pearl, George W.) To. G. A & M. C. Pearl (Pearl, George A.) Pearl, George A. (Mrs., Marcia C.)Pearl, Marcia C. (Mrs. George A. Pearl)
